30 Dec 19 Year Old Makes Great Progress Following Spinal Cord Injury Treatment

When with his friends in Spain, Brinston was hit by a drunk driver. Every one of his friends died except for him. However, he didn’t leave without something to remind him of this, Brinston now has a Spinal Cord Injury as a result of the accident.

Researching Spinal Cord Injury Treatments

Upon looking online to learn as much as he could on the possible treatments for him, he discovered Epidural Stimulation and Stem Cell Therapy. This was also how he learnt about us. On watching and reading about some of our patients’ testimonials online, he got inspired and encouraged and knew this was the treatment he had been looking for.

After making the trip from England to Bangkok, Brinston received the Epidural Stimulation implant together with stem cell injections. His muscle tones have increased, he can move his legs and he is able to feel them too.

Brinston also undertook physiotherapy as part of his treatment plan.

Jovial and enthusiastic, Brinston was sure travelling to Bangkok was the right choice for him. The world class facilities in Bangkok impressed him and so did the medical team and general staff. He was treated with great care, and everyone he met at the facilities ensured he had a good stay.

Spinal Cord Injuries are often caused by motor or auto vehicle accidents. And unfortunately, like in Brinston’s case, it just takes being at the wrong place at the wrong time.

What is Epidural Stimulation?

Epidural Stimulation is the application of a continuous electrical current to the lower part of the spinal cord. The simulation is carried out via a little chip which is implanted over the dura (the protective coating) of the spinal cord. The Epidural Stimulation procedure offers hope to many patients, who would have otherwise never thought of walking again.

The major goal of the treatment is to restore motor function and quality of life in patients with paralysis using Epidural Stimulation and locomotor training therapies.

When asked what message he would have for other Spinal Cord Patients like him, Brinston said, “You have to try it. The results are really good!”
